An Ocean in Iowa by Peter Hedges — Advance Reading Copy Paperback

Scotty Ocean believes turning seven will make 1969 his best year yet. Instead, his mother leaves the family, and his suburban Iowa childhood changes overnight. Determined to bring her back—or find someone to take her place—Scotty approaches an increasingly complicated world with a child’s imagination and stubborn hope.

From the author of What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, An Ocean in Iowa blends humor and heartbreak in a story about family, growing up, and the things children cannot control.
